Admissions & Enrollment

The Admissions and Enrollment (A&E) cluster provides student and instructional program support services that serve over 60,000 applicants, 34,000 students, and countless alumni. The A&E units play critical roles in shaping the Cal student experience from prospects through to alumnae and beyond. We also serve the needs of faculty and staff, academic and administrative departments, UCOP, and external agencies. Admissions and Enrollment is comprised of the following units: the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, the Office of the Registrar, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and the Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor - Admissions and Enrollment. These units are responsible for maintaining key components of the institutional infrastructure that provide for the selection of students, that enable their successful transitions into and out of the University, that facilitate their successful progression through their academic programs and that ensure affordability of their university experience.

The Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor - Admissions and Enrollment provides oversight and direction of these operations. In discharging these responsibilities, Admissions and Enrollment strives to attain five main goals:

  • To identify and prepare talented but economically disadvantaged students to meet university eligibility and admissibility requirements.
  • To identify, recruit, admit and enroll the very best undergraduate students.
  • To encourage the enrollment of admitted students from underrepresented and/or economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • To ensure access, affordability and opportunity to all qualified students and especially to disadvantaged and financially needy students.
  • To provide high-quality student information and services that will enable students to achieve their educational objectives with the greatest efficiency.

Through its efforts to deliver and sustain a diverse student body of high academic quality, Admissions and Enrollment endeavors to support the University's core academic mission and its long-term institutional planning and efforts and objectives.
