IAP Selection Process & Calendar

In the Fall, Incentive Awards Program University Partnerships staff conduct UC admissions and IAP scholarship presentations at its partner high school sites.

High school coordinators, along with a team, select up to 5 eligible seniors from each partner high school. An independent selection committee, comprised of community, education leaders, and campus partners interview candidates in February.

Finalists are selected in April once UC Berkeley admissions decisions are released.

IAP Selection Process Calendar

September - October 2009
IAP University Partnerships staff conducts Scholarship Announcement Meetings (SAM) with prospective candidates.

Students submit Scholarship Preliminary Application and copy FAFSA4Caster to High School Coordinator (HSC) to determine eligibility. Check with the HSC for the high school's internal deadline.

November 30, 2009
Deadline for final nominees to submit IAP Nominee Application with copy of UC Application to the IAP Office.

Apply for UC Berkeley admission. Note that the deadline to submit the UC Application is the same as the Nominee Application deadline.

November 30, 2009
Overall deadline to submit University of California Application for Undergraduate Admission and Scholarship.

December 2009
Deadline to take EITHER the SAT Reasoning Test OR ACT Assessment plus Writing AND two (2) SAT Subject Tests in two different areas.

Nominee informed of IAP Selection Committee interview date.

February 1, 2010
Submit the 7th Semester Grade Report to the IAP office.

February 6, 2010
Mandatory IAP Selection Committee Interview.

February 19, 2010
Submit a copy of the 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the IAP office.

April 2010
IAP Award Recipient announced.

Recipient invited to attend Overnight Host Program.

April 26, 2010
Deadline to accept IAP Award and submit Statement of Intent to Register to UC Berkeley.
